Visa requirements for South Africans
Visa-exempt short visit: 30-day visa exemption under rules effective 15 September 2026. Up to 30 days under the published visa-exemption scheme, subject to admission
South Africa appears in Thailand’s revised 30-day visa-exemption list effective 15 September 2026. Older 60-day advice is not the current scheme. Complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) through the official immigration portal within three days before arrival. For a longer visit or another purpose, check the Thai embassy and official eVisa service before booking; do not assume an extension will be granted.
Fee: No tourist visa application fee for an eligible visa-exempt short visit. The official TDAC is free.
Passport / identification: Plan for at least six months validity and confirm the current Thai entry checklist.
Carry accommodation, onward-travel and funds evidence where requested. Each traveller needs their own passport and arrival declaration.
